Pen to Paper

We’ve all heard the quote: “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”  This has been applied to financial planning and businesses down to the daily To Do List, so why not your home?  I have a post-it note theory these days, to help ensure my success.  I allow myself one post-it per day knowing that a list longer than the 3”x3” square will accommodate is likely not to be completed.  By the way, none of them are as simple as brush your teeth.  I am a happier person at the end of the day when I know that I have completed my tasks and basically followed the plan.

The only way to ensure that you get what you want in your construction project is to put it on paper as the basis for builder’s contract.  Changes can be made before the project gets started, and certainly things will change along the way, but the plan provides the starting point.  I am not sure that we can simplify a construction set down to a Post-it note.  However, we can set the goals and quality levels out in a straightforward manner to net better results than any project without a plan.
