Is it REALLY all about appearances?

In these troubled times, are we still really worried about appearances?  It seems to me that this has been an issue for some time, but particularly in the housing industry.  Too often people are putting high priced finishes, granite countertops or four part wood trim, on pressed wood subfloors and using vinyl framed windows.  Sorry for using Dr. Phil’s catch phrase, but come on folks “let’s get real.”

Just like your parents and friends have always told you, it is what is on the inside that counts.  Good, solid bones and a tight skin are the key to longevity and looking good longer.  The most efficient way to spend the budget wisely is to put your money into the things you can’t easily repair or replace.  Then, save it on the things you will likely want to change in ten years.  Besides next year’s color is going to be___.  And who knows, someone may manufacture the fabulous new countertop material that will not only be anti-microbial, but will clean itself with solar power soon.
